My take on historical accuracy in games is that I don't care. If your game is set in Medieval England and you want to make the Commander of the Guard a queer black woman, that's fine. But if the game just has a bunch of white people then you can't really knock them for that either.

Call me a loser, sucker, wimp, whatever, but I guess I'm not cynical enough to think that prolonging a government shutdown because you think it hurts your political enemies is a good thing to do.

What I learned last night is that a critical mass of Bluesky posters thought the shutdown was some kind of magic undo button for the election

If you spent 2024 saying Trump and Democrats are equally bad, I’d like to see you maintain that today and at least show some intellectual consistency. But many who said that in 2024 are now acting very very concerned about Trump, which makes me suspect they knew better back then.

I can't bring myself to make fun of this, it's so quaint. Twee socialism. I fully support this guy's mission to build a society where you're constantly tripping over pharmacies.

In 2024, a million people with a small but nonzero amount of influence on the left each decided that because they couldn't singlehandedly influence the election, they could say anything they wanted against Harris, and collectively that added up to Trump winning.

The progressive approach to politics is "just overpromise and tell everyone you're going to do a bunch of big structural change and don't worry about whether you can actually do it" which, in my opinion, is much more insulting to voters than what normal Democrats do.

I'm pretty sure most of the things that are wrong with people can't be fixed by the Governor of Virginia.
“…make your life a little bit better.”

Man, what is power for
It was great being back in Norfolk to help get out the vote for @abigailspanberger.com for Governor.

Virginia – Abigail Spanberger cares about your freedoms, she will fight for your rights, and she will work every day to make your life a little bit better.

So basically the origin of every shitty thing can be traced back to Donald Trump somehow?

Biden's approval rating sank as low as 35 percent. Trump is gleefully starving 42 million Americans, sending a fascist government $40 billion, overthrowing a country, and building a ballroom bunker while posting photos of his new bathroom. And his approval rating is 39 percent. Weird country.

I looked back on the Facebook feeds of my Trump supporting relatives and it actually doesn’t seem like they were into marble walls and gold toilets before Trump
The educated liberal big city US folks outraged at Trump's renovation of Lincoln bathroom really need to scroll some Facebook of their less established relatives and friends to see what kind of aesthetic resonates with Trump's target audience.

Are any of the candidates you’re running against in your own state afraid of you?
Chuck Schumer is spooked by me. And it's not hard to see why.

I don't feel bad at all for JD Vance's wife, she's a dead-eyed Yale striver who wants this as bad as him and made a conscious choice to put on the populism skinsuit. But I do feel kinda bad for his kids. No matter how insulated, imagine being a brown kid named Vivek and that being your dad.

You know, in hindsight it shouldn't have surprised me that Trump would eventually end up shouting "DO SOMETHING" at Chuck Schumer just like every other terminally online moron does, but it did

Could it be possible that Klein and Schumer arrived at the same conclusion independently? Nope apparently Schumer is so hapless he can only do good when the NYT tells him to
he's going to, and we will have to give chuck credit for doing his job correctly after ezra klein told the entire democratic caucus, in the NYT, to coup him from leadership if he did not.
tbh if Trump comes out against the filibuster and forces republicans to pass the kill grandma bill on a party line vote in a massively public way, I think you do in this case gotta hand it to Chuck.
