This is a very moving article by Sarah Stillman at the New Yorker about the felony murder rule, a distinctively American phenomenon that sends a lot of people to prison for murder who never killed anyone. Abolishing it is low-hanging fruit, but few states have taken that step.

I am querying a novel that is so dumb. It’s like The Changeling (which is great), if Apollo took up CrossFit (which is dumb) and battled the Loch Ness Monster. I cannot believe it hasn’t been snapped up.

Apropos of nothing, the movie Spontaneous was very good. A charming dark comedy about late adolescence and the fear of the future.
