One of the last of the boomers, talks, writes and thinks about UK politics, information technology, and economics.
There’s room for a Left & a Green Party, & even a left radical party, the European Parliament shows this is so. But in the UK, FPTP and its winner takes all culture engenders an unhealthy tribalism and ignores the fact, that other people have good ideas too.

Five things, about AI

There’s no +ive business model,
They are now borrowing to invest in each other.
Hallucinations are a feature, it gets things wrong,
The rule base’s ownership is obscure and Code is Law
It’s [deliberately] wasteful of resources which people need.

I am curious as to why since high bond yields means low bond prices, why the HMG doesn't just buy up the bonds of those asking too much interest?

Some argue that a fair income distribution is one which people would accept when they don't know where they would sit. Here's some four year old data. Does this meet that definition?

I have one of these, and despite all my research, I didn't discover until today that it can invoke voice input to, it seems, any Windows app. I might try it with the phone next. 🔉(NB it also comes with icon buttons.) #popkeyb-logitech

The govt. has published videos of deportations, restated its intention to criminalise people arriving irregularly, & banned them from becoming British citizens.

We urge Labour to recognise that their only route to victory is to deliver for the majority of people.

I hope some good lawyers are on top of this, HMG calling for opinions on software generated criminal evidence. It starts with lists of debtors, and ends #neuromancer

Democracy is a defence against the argument that citizen’s are powerless & need to be protected by strong men or women, but this is undermined by the failure to offer a choice on macro-economics. (So economic policy must be the outcome of democracy & not frozen in treaties or constitutions)

Of all the times I have been to exhibitions and been frustrated that the posters on sale advertise the entire exhibition and not the art, yet here in Firenze, the opposite is true. There's some great stuff here.

They have restored the round reading room at the British Museum and I went to visit it today; you need to book in advance. In the shadow of Marx, Lenin, Trotsky and Beatrice Potter. Photos are prohibited, but I found this on the 'net CC 2004 BY-SA bobulous @ wikipedia

Prof Aleks Szczerbiak reviews the left in #poland and its disappointing performance in last month's election. PiS have a strong committent to social expenditure and are thus attractive to social conservative/economic liberal voters.

The #EuropeanParliament voted for a convention on treaty change; it’s politics, & they emphasise their powers & the unique legitimacy of their own mandate. I welcome its source, #CoFoE, its commitment to democracy, inclusion & improved speed of decision.
