Check it out, #SKRUBSquad now has a logo! By @cloudyning.bsky.social!

I'm always blown away by her amazing logo work and honestly it feels SO nice to have an actual logo to ground the project now 😌

Did the first actually *online* (not just LAN) playtest of #SKRUBSquad!

The good news is the game mostly works and I could capture screenshots for the store page!

The bad news is some things REALLY didn't work and now I have a lot of bugs to fix!

Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar continues the time-honored Harvest Moon tradition of designing incredibly fuckable characters and then telling you that you cannot under any circumstances fuck them.

PSA: the stock Photos app (NOT the Media player) in Windows 11 has a "Trim" tool that you can use to quickly trim the length of files

It's intuitive since videos usually open in Media Player and not Photos, but if you need to clip things it's a godsend that doesn't require downloading more apps

Shout out to the cops I saw go into a pizza place for lunch and pull up onto a curb on the smallest sidewalk on top of a no stop zone instead of literally just parking in the parking lot they were already in.

Thank you to the Toronto Police - real heroes don't wear capes! 🙏

Was thinking about buying a tilt-shift lens until I learned that the tilt-shift miniature effect isn't actually real Depth of Field and you can fake it in post

I edited a photo I took as a test and...yep sure enough that works!

Couldn't decide what I wanted to work on tonight so just ended up turning the one into a Euguchi Hiosashi style test

Warm up sketches!
November 6, 2025 at 3:25 AM
Here it is all tuned up!

it's much less dramatic and plays much more smoothly (which will fit better with the gameplay) #SKRUBSquad

Updated my gameplay UI as bit because it felt a little *too* placeholder for promotional screenshots
November 5, 2025 at 4:28 PM
Decided my character controller wasn't feeling so great, so I added a tilt to the movement as well as footstep sound effects. 😌 #SKRUBSquad

Preparing my Steam Page so take a look at these ~high-quality screenshots~ of my game! #SKRUBSquad

Guy who is completely normal: "What if I designed a course and named it in such a way that makes it sound like I just want to commit a mass shooting"

Everyone else: "what"
October 31, 2025 at 7:37 PM
Considering this is a sport involving shooting things ranging from tall targets shaped like humans to small targets shaped like small humans it's perplexing how many sound like they are also trying to be romantic

There are three genres of course name:

1) Formal Course Name

2) "Fantasizing About Being A Badass Ex-Military Man With Huge Penis Even Though I Am Not And Will Never Be" Course Name

3) "courses I designed at 3am because i keep thinking about my ex-wife leaving me" Course Name

Docs also historically did a really good bang-up job at crediting their creators. Newer docs - probably due to being so freaking fly-by-night - ditch most of those credits entirely.

As if to illustrate how few fucks were given: one newer doc that does credit says the creator is JAKE FROM STATE FARM
October 31, 2025 at 7:22 PM
Another issue is most old docs measure targets edge-to-edge or centre line-to-edge with NO exceptions (you know, like a Standard does)

New ones will swap it up to centre-to-centre or worse, just not bother really specifying at all! Which is AWFUL when placement is all relative and distance matters!
October 31, 2025 at 7:15 PM
It's just hard to emphasize how GOOD the old classifier docs are compared to the newer ones!

Between 2000-2012 they are comprehensive, standard, and digestible at a glance, but anything after that feels like a total crapshoot!

Which is NOT what you want for your sport's primary performance metric!
October 31, 2025 at 7:05 PM
Most of these are two pages only, but honorable mention to this Word diagram Classifier that contains an entire extra page of wall of text. Proof your diagram is Bad.

as well as this other course which has an actual blueprint spec of its setup that is way more useful than the Sketchup image on it
October 31, 2025 at 6:58 PM
Shout out to this one that is literally just a diagram and nothing else.

Granted a lot of these have a second page course briefing for officiants to read out to a contestant on-site that contains some of the information, but jesus man you could have done more than paste an image?
October 31, 2025 at 6:53 PM
Eventually they find a happy middle ground that re-introduces all the standard course elements they needed to include (and had been including at the beginning) while keeping useful images but boy does it feel like it didn't need to take so much to get here from their really solid standard!
October 31, 2025 at 6:49 PM
That lasts for 4 diagrams before someone decided that no, Sketchup was good actually.

In fact, let's get rid of annoying standards like "Stage Procedure" and "Start Position" and instead fill it with cool pics and bullet points and wait this is a tech spec and not a worldbuilding document? Oh shi-
October 31, 2025 at 6:36 PM
Fast forward and OH now we've reformatted the documentation again and are now just using photos taken from our phones of 3D printed pieces on a grid

Why!! Why did we ditch the really good format for this!!!

To it's credit this format is more accessible than the Word diagram.
October 31, 2025 at 6:31 PM
At some point someone went back and fixed up one of these and made it use the vertical format of the older ones, so now at least the text is readable but...it keeps the hideous diagram? And the only fixed 1/3 of them?

(also realizing the blue arrows look Word blue...the diagram was made in Word. 🥴)
October 31, 2025 at 6:26 PM
And then someone went "Eh, fuck it".

Diagrams are straight-on, notes are overlapping the diagram, metrics overlap arrows, nothing is visually to scale, and descriptions are now in tiny text. Also the aspect ratio is horizontal??

You ditched a solid future-proof doc standard for THIS?
