it's a venn diagram and whatever but i think my expectations were so couched in what the book does that i struggled (and am still struggling) to follow the movie's threads on their own. i still dunno if it succeeds at what it's trying to do, honestly. but i am gonna chew on this for basically ever

Amnesia the Dark Descent! I mean the conceit is “the guy you’re playing has amnesia” so the unreliability is built in, but the fun in learning “oh he did that to himself because he did awful shit” is a fun ride. Would love a horror game that took the idea further mechanically tho
