I am also on this list and came to BlueSky to complain about it 😆- amazing that a bunch of PhDs can’t read this paragraph where it makes it incredibly clear why folks are on the list, how they got the info, and how to remove themselves

Shabbat shalom and happy 4th anniversary of being married to @chavezye.bsky.social ! Sad to not spend it together but we will get to spend some time together soon. Also grateful for an amazing week at the C40 Mayors Summit in Rio. Amazing connections and insights for our project.

I am genuinely confused (and potentially concerned) as to why ISA is sending out different messaging and framing to different segments of ISA membership about traveling to the 2026 conference. These are screenshots from three different scholars I know of the "same" email we received today from ISA.

Hanging out at The Kings Garden today and there is another statute of taking something out of Khaleesi’s mouth after she’s snatched up a treat on the ground post garbage day

Shabbat shalom! I had a great last two weeks traveling back to Canada and the US for some guest talks and to see my dogs (and Dan). This week was bookended by lost luggage (again) and having a little health flare up (again). Thankfully, not anything some soup, liquids, and rest couldn’t mostly fix.

I'm thrilled to announce that @isa-canada.bsky.social will have TWO workshops at @cpsa-acsp.bsky.social this year! A dissertation workshop (open to all in the AM and with an invite-only track for feedback in the afternoon) and a workshop on teaching IR in the age of generative AI. More info in 🧵

Shabbat shalom! Honestly a bit of a crap week. In the positive side, I was successful in getting a good challah bake this week with my kitchen set up here (made four different smaller challahs to hedge bets) and a few new things I tried in class went pretty well thankfully

OR Taylor was hegemon-in-waiting.

I used the Taylor Swift/Ariana Grande fandom competition to talk about bipolar system haha. And then said if you added in Kendrick v Drake and Nicki v Cardi B you have great examples of clusters of regional hegemony

Giving a talk about hegemony to an intro poltiical science course today and I'm so excited about this example of hegemonic stability theory I drew up

Shabbat shalom! I think this is the first Rosh Hashanah I’ve spent alone in a very long time. I’ve been incredibly exhausted this week but otherwise recovered from being sick. Daniel had a really exciting week with some cool professional things, which was a nice omen for the new year.

Also WILD that committes, such as the Committee on the Status of Representation and Diversity — which represents underrepresented scholars — can’t move their programming to an accessible format with this model.

Soooo what are folks supposed to do for panels that include both US scholars (who are barred from being moved to online) and non-US based scholars who (rightfully) need to be moved to virtual for ISA 2026? I think this plan could have used a little more feedback and time to cook...

Excited to share my favorite piece of academic lore in lecture tomorrow

Shabbat shalom! Back in Copenhagen after a whirlwind trip to Ottawa (for AC and my dogs and my bed) and Vancouver (for APSA). And then immediately got sick. Haven’t been this sick in about two years- combo of PhD wrap up, moving, and international travel finally got to me though.

Celebrated my dissertation being accepted by the library by buying a new book. Less than 10 pages into Katabasis and absolutely CACKLING.

Shabbat shalom! Taught my first course of the semester. Submitted my edited dissertation to the library. Got my yellow health card and staff card. Made a few new friends. Attended my first faculty meeting. Dan went back to Ottawa (😢). An extremely full week!

Shabbat shalom. Danish bureaucracy really almost did me in this week. I’m truly so tired. First class I’m teaching here starts this coming week, which I’m excited for. I also got my office this week!

With the start of term for many folks here or around the corner, I figured I would share my recently updated syllabus policy for my MSc level course at University of Copenhagen this fall. Please feel free to lift language in whole or in spirit.

Shabbat shalom! Finished the first full week in Denmark. The weather has finally cooled off (thank G-d) and I met so many people this week, including some great connections for my next project on urban green spaces. Missing my dogs a lot but glad I’ll get to visit a few times this fall.

Shabbat shalom! This was the first week in Copenhagen and the first Shabbat in our new apartment. It’s been a really fun first week but I’m also ready for the temps to come down 😭
