Quite like the transport part...
Leaf blowing - ffs, it's still noisy!
How are our young people going to stay fit, if they don't expend any energy on jobs that presumably would pay the same -with/without "silent" leaf blowers?
I mean, really, who's profiting... I think I need to leave that there.

I'd award a Nobel Prize for Peace to anyone who invented a silent leaf blower.
Alternatively, I'd award it, generally (to be shared), to any council which gave a leaf blower operative a rake, instead.

Didn't get to Pasadena in any cultural way, alas...

💓You're lucky to live there - if you've survived those fires...
I drove up from the villa to that fabulous "sugar cube" concoction...
In a doorway, I found myself face to face with Van Gogh's Irises, and tears ran down my face. Still do, just remembering it.
Possibly my very favourite painting ever.

OMG, it was.
I'm not trying to score points, I'm sure you know - just sharing good memories of our great Nobel Laureate - how much Bob has given to so many people over the decades; and hopefully, has influenced our attitudes...

I stayed in Santa Monica a few days, 10+ years ago.
My host, an old friend of my much-loved, dear departed partner, was only reasonably hospitable...
His other "lodger" was tasked with showing me around Venice Beach & bars, mostly.
I found the 2 Getty art centres all on my own... Just gorgeous 💓

The best moment was Bob's encore, when he came out and sat down (on our side of the stadium) with an acoustic guitar, and gave us 30 minutes of his legendary old songs.
Might have been some kind of homage to folk singer Martin Carthy, who looked after him on his first, unknown, visit to London.

They would be! Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers a great band it its own right.
My first Bob gig was Wembley stadium 1986 (I think). Brilliant support from UB40, Santana (how that guitar soared over a blue, cloudless sky), Tom Petty, then Bob with The Band /2

The Paris venue is called La Seine Musicale... inaugurated by Bob himself, I believe, in 2017.
Fabulous acoustics, of course.
It's a whole island in the river Seine! My friend and I explored all afternoon before the gig.

Well he and I growing older together - tho he'll always be ahead.
I reckon that's the 4th time I've seen him live... and each time, he's chosen the perfect band for his needs.
Also, the occasional instrument changes (electric bass/double bass) guitars - all just seamless.

Cloud Gate is nice - but shame he can't accept that fond nickname 🥲
Truth is, the sculpture will - and should - live for centuries... but I bet more people will know what the Bean is, and where, than Cloud Gate.

I saw Bob live in Paris last year Just heart-stopping.
Old faves, mixed with Rough & Rowdy Ways.
He doesn't play guitar any more, b/c arthritis. He played behind his baby grand, occasionally venturing forth - but not past the support of the piano...
The will is there; the bod isn't, so much.

It was the first I'd bought in years.
It's Not Dark Yet is stand-out for me - plus, probably, Highlands...
But yes, it's another stand-out album... and we though he was old, then! /2

Blood On The Tracks is another masterpiece 🥰

What a great story!
JWH was another, very different, album - the first after Bob's motorcycle accident... which, I've read subsequently, wasn't as bad as first thought.
But it gave him time away from the hubbub - which he probably needed.
If you haven't read it, I recommend his book, Chronicle.

My first one was Best Of The Beach Boys, which I insisted on as a Christmas present from my parents - much against their wishes...

You're probably younger than me, then.
A boyfriend turned me on to Bob when I was about 15...
Apparently his dad bought him every LP as soon as it was available in UK!

🙏 I had the honour & pleasure to work at the RA for 3 months as a temp... so I made the most of my time there - and of the pass I received which, if I remember rightly, lasted a year...
Well worth while. My art appreciation has been growing, ever since.
November 13, 2025 at 1:42 AM
It's true!
In London I went to an RA exhibition doing a compare/contrast of those two artists... which is when I read/heard that story.
The two paintings in question were hung side by side... again!

Je vous en pris!
November 13, 2025 at 1:06 AM
Me too. I think my friends knew all the lyrics - while I only knew half of them...
November 13, 2025 at 12:46 AM
And the rest... Turner would be proud of you!
His Hesperus was hung next to Constable's vivid red/gold Venetian gondolas at a Royal Academy summer exhibition, so (the story goes), at the vernissage, Turner added a subtle red buoy to his painting - which drew all eyes...!

Beautiful. Fabulous harmonies.
I loved the time Neil Young was with Crosby Stills & Nash.
November 13, 2025 at 12:33 AM
Me too. I went to see him at Hyde Park - great show, of course - but none of the friends I expected to see accompanied me... because they were all backstage, thanks to one who helped build the stage.
So I listened and danced all on my own.
Wouldn't have missed it for the world!

Lovely photos of lovely clouds, though 🙏
