What I heard was: I saw my mother do it all with no support from my father, her family, his family or community so I refuse to support my partner in a meaningful way because you’re not better than my mom so you don’t deserve ease & if you have a support system I will shame you & try to isolate you.

It’s cold and I don’t like it buuuuut…. I’m a quitter!
