Times change but the streets sure don't. Donovan made a name for himself as a strong fighter prowling the market roads at night. He fought and challenge countless fighters around Thanalan and Ul'dah and built a reputation as a beast within the city. A thug of thanalan, and Eorzea's own Desert Tiger.

Life on the street is rough for a child. So he did what he had to do to survive. He stole what he could and when he was finally big enough. He fought.When his eyesight started to go, he went around punching nerds and trying out pairs of glasses till he found the right ones that worked.

When he was a child, he earned the nickname "Pretty boy" for his doman features as a form of mockery. He responded to this nickname by decking the other children in the face. This process had a habit of repeating until he was trying to fight adults too. Eventually the orphanage just threw him out.

Donovan was born to a Doman woman who made her living as a whore in Ul'dah. The specific patron who fathered him was a man of Ala Mhigan descent. Having no desire to raise him, she left him in the care of an Ul'dah orphanage without bothering to name him. He was named by a census worker.
