Author, photographer, football/soccer fan. I've written some books, but good luck finding them.
I knew it was coming, but learning of the death of my friend Dave Drummond today was still a kick in the gut. We'd been friends for 60 years, since he was 10 and I was 12. Shitty day, shitty week. Farewell, my brother. Love you.

Post you from a different era.

My Youth Hostel membership taken shortly before I left for 4 months of backpacking through Australasia.

After a walk down to the river on a stunning fall day (there are dozens of sandhill cranes on the island across the way, and they are LOUD) we came home to find Jo had made a chowder of every vegetable available in the fridge. Sprinkled with parmesan and sourdough bread on the side, delish!

9 years ago, FB reminds me, my son Aidan (then 20) threw together a last-minute Halloween party costume as Ted Cruz, the Zodiac Killer.

At least TSN had the good sense to not have both of these on their page in the same place, instead of having to scroll down from one to the next.

Zevon concurs.

Whitecap Dog Park is a fave, but because of my knee for the past two years Zevon and I have had to stay up top in the field. On the weekend I was able to go down the hill and we walked the forest trails. Too cool to hit the beach and he frolic in the river, but still, so lovely.

As mentioned to @karmageddon.bsky.social earlier when talking about the Liverpool game, I did indeed hear from My Son the Coach (as did my other son) after supper tonight.

The weather is taking a turn for the worse tomorrow but today was a lovely time for Zevon and I to go for a stroll.

I have a vivid memory of Auckland, 1982, staying in a hostel and deciding to go see REDS with a guy I'd just met. The hostel locked doors at a certain time and the movie had a friggin' intermission, so we had to run, got in just under the wire. I loved Diane Keaton in that film. RIP.

How I, a Canadian child, first learned about Hessians.

From a couple of winters ago, Zevon (white) and one of his Irish wolfhound buddies (then a pup) along with a couple others. Always enjoy when we come across the big dogs at the park.

Zevon and Banjo making a beeline for me while we were out on our walk today.

I haven’t posted our weekly cocktail for a while, but damn.

Key Lime Pie

3oz white rum, 1.5oz coconut water, .25oz lime juice, .25oz agave, 1tbsp Greek yogurt. Shake with ice and strain into coupe.

Here's a pic I took in war-ravaged Portland a number of years ago on my last visit. My son, the one being attacked with streams of water here, was scarred for life.

More mystery in Richard's shot than in mine, but I too love them. So much that one is a character in my story "Mars Needs Psychopaths."

Zevon, getting a bit of mid-day shuteye with his favourite stuffy.

Had a small drop-in for my retirement today and now Jo and I and a couple of friends are sitting around what is ludicrously our first fire of the year.

Who has two thumbs and as of today is retired?
