(1/2) A new "Castlevania: Symphony of the Night" patch for SEGA Saturn (based on Meduza Team's v1.1 "Ultimate" patch) has been released.

This fork restores the voice acting, script, and title screen from the English PSX version.

Other changes were made too...

(1/3) NTSC-J VA1 Sega Saturn.

- Pretty clean! Minor scuffs.
- All capacitors replaced (main board and power supply).
- Fenrir Duo ODE (including mount kit and ribbon cables).

Make me an offer 🙂

(2/2) Works great! More photos here.

Located in the USA. Make me an offer!

(1/2) For sale, a very clean VA1 NTSC-U Dreamcast.

-DCDigital HW2 installed.
-Recapped PSU and main board.
-Controller board modded with resettable fuse and rechargeable battery socket.
-GD-ROM drive is almost new (came from lightly used unit in storage, then greased/cleaned).

Oh, and here's one more! Like so many Japanese games, video initialization is broken if using RGB with a PAL console.

This is now fixed 🙂

(8/9) Lastly, I managed to hack in really, REALLY rudimentary English alphabet support for the name entry screen. This was entirely in Japanese on PS2 (but that'll likely change with an update), and I don't have time to do a fully polished hack for this. Instead, this is it!

(7/9) There are some other things unique to the DC version of the patch, like the title screen from the first post in this thread, as well as the pause menu seen below.

On PS2, the original patch author couldn't modify the textures for these areas, but they're wide open on DC.

(6/9) Oh, and we've got an English VMU icon now too!

(5/9) After that, I also tweaked the apostrophe font glyph. I wasn't too big a fan. I think it looks better now.
October 24, 2025 at 1:40 PM
(4/9) There was something else though that was really bugging me. For some reason, a number of ASCII font glyphs were misaligned vertically. Pay special attention to characters like 't', 'r', 'w', and 'x'.

This was an error the original developers made, but now it's fixed!

(3/9) However, one relatively quick assembly hack later, and we're looking good on DC! The horizontal offset for text rendering has been shifted enough to the left to mitigate any form of premature cut off.
October 24, 2025 at 1:40 PM
(2/9) One thing we immediately noticed is how both the history viewer text (top) and dialogue text (bottom) are cut off in many instances.

This wasn't true on the PS2...

(1/9) The porting of Gopicolo's English translation patch for "Di Gi Charat Fantasy" from the PlayStation 2 to the Dreamcast is fully underway!

Playtesters are hard at work, and I've finished what I hope will be all of the additional modifications required for the DC version.

I can always make wall space for stuff like this 😎

(1/2) And here's the incredible ArdSCSino Plus using this same method. What's so incredible about it? Like the ZuluSCSI Blaster, this SCSI emulator supports CD-DA playback with CD-ROM disc images! Unlike the ZuluSCSI Blaster, however, the ArdSCSino Plus exposes a simple 3.5mm audio jack.

The user Vague Rant just shared a patch for "Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue!" on the SEGA Dreamcast to fix its awful analog controls once and for all!

I gave it a quick test on real hardware and boy oh boy, is it a massive improvement.

(1/3) Using the amazing Boot Loader from CaptainYS (author of the Tsugaru emulator), FM Towns owners can leverage external SCSI CD-ROM drives (or CDDA-capable SCSI ODEs like ArdSCSino Blaster and ZuluSCSI Plus) to enjoy *some* software, even when their internal CD-ROM drive is dead!

Weirdly, the PAL and NTSC-U versions of "Bangai-O" had their brightness turned down, something fans have lamented for years.

Now, thanks to Vague Rant, you can enjoy the correct colors with the PAL, NTSC-U, and even VGA-patched NTSC-U versions!

Spotted on my drive this morning. If I ever need electrical work done, I basically have to call these guys… don't I?

The "Infernal Affairs" trilogy on VCD just arrived! These are subbed in English and will be uploaded to my repo later today.

Funny though, the box had a U.S. Border Patrol sticker wrapped around it informing me the parcel was opened to check for contraband!

Finally got a Greaseweazle, and now I can dump FM Towns floppies!

Chances of me coming across something undumped isn't likely, but there's always the possibility... 😅
