It performs rage for profit but generates real anger in the audience. That anger feeds real political behaviour. Performative signals become grievances, and the disordered discourse migrates from the feed into institutions and streets.

It produces a performative ecosystem. Actors aren’t communicating; they’re staging provocations for yield. The result is disordered discourse: signals detached from truth, identity shaped by escalation, and a feedback loop where the performance eclipses reality itself.

On 13 June, @theguardian.com published a collective letter concerning Russia’s war & attacking Dr #FionaHill, the chancellor of Durham University & one of the principal authors of the UK’s strategic defence review. As UK-based or British-educated experts in matters pertaining to Russia, we disagree.

At a Russian Economic Forum, Putin once again called Ukrainians and Russians "one people," and further said that this means "all of Ukraine is ours." He also stated that wherever Russian soldiers have boots on the ground is "Russia." Why do we still take "it's because of NATO" academics seriously?

'Moscow doesn’t separate kinetic warfare from the so-called “active measures” – disinformation, corruption, infiltration, sabotage, or covert operations […]

But the real scandal is not that Moscow deploys these tools — it’s that the West keeps falling for them.

"Retaliation" headlines are a gift to the Kremlin—and a betrayal of Ukraine - Euromaidan Press
After Ukraine hit Russian bombers, Moscow bombed apartments. Media called it "retaliation." Here's why that helps Putin win.

Russia, not Ukraine, is the obstacle to peace.

This is evident in the data. Russia has intensified its drone/missile strike campaign against Ukraine after President Trump was inaugurated.

Ukraine has offered many concessions to start peace processes.

Russia has offered zero.
NEW: Russian forces conducted one of the largest ever missile and drone strikes against Ukraine as Russian forces continue to adapt strike packages to overwhelm Ukraine's air defenss by increasing the total number of Shahed and decoy drones in each strike.(🧵1/11)

I hope this will be picked up by European leaders. Now that Trump has decided that he opposes more Russians dying, but is fine with them killing more Ukrainians, Europe has to take more responsibility for a member of the European family - “one of us”, as von der Leyen said at the start of the war.

Gegen uns. 🧵👇1/8

5 ways you can support Ukraine — even if your government doesn't want to #Ukraine
5 ways you can support Ukraine — even if your government doesn't want to
Editor’s note: We originally shared a version of this guide for our members on Feb. 24, 2024. If you would like to join a community of people united by wanting to help Ukraine, consider becoming a member today . U.S. President Donald Trump's public spat with President Volodymyr Zelensky in the White House on Feb. 28 threw the future of Washington's support for Ukraine in the air, but led to a renewed outpouring of support for Ukraine across the world. As Russia’s war in Ukraine enters its fourth year , and Trump mulls cutting military aid entirely , here are some ways to help Ukraine and stand with Ukrainians. Contact your representatives Contact your elected representatives, regardless of where you live. In the U.S., the American Coalition for Ukraine has a tool to find your members of Congress and recommended messaging for what to ask your government representatives. Finding a local group organizing political support for Ukraine in your country or city is a great starting point for getting more involved. You can also find and support candidates who support Ukraine in upcoming elections. Avoid companies operating in Russia It’s also possible to boycott international companies that still operate within Russia. The Kyiv School of Economics has made a list of corporations that continue to do business in Russia. The mobile version of the website even has a barcode scanner, so you can easily find the details about a product’s parent company. Also, consider supporting Ukrainian brands or local businesses. You can check out our Ukrainian gift guide for inspiration. Protesters attend a demonstration in support of Ukraine in Rome, Italy, on March 2, 2025. (Riccardo De Luca/Anadolu via Getty Images) Donate to Ukrainian organizations Donate to organizations in Ukraine. Some well-known charities involved in supporting those on the front line are Come Back Alive , the Serhiy Prytula Charity Foundation , and the Hospitallers . With the suspension of USAID , Ukrainian civil society and humanitarian organizations also need your support: Ukraine was the largest recipient of U.S. economic aid, receiving over $14 billion in 2023. Protest in support of Ukraine Join marches or demonstrations in support of Ukraine. The Ukrainian World Congress compiled a map showing the organizers of events on Feb. 24 to commemorate the start of the full-scale invasion. You can discover organizations near you and see if they are planning future events. Engage with Ukrainian media, culture, and art Part of Russia’s goal in the war is to destroy Ukrainian culture. Here’s a list (compiled by one of our members) showing creative ways to help Ukraine , highlighting organizations, projects, and artists, from podcasts about the war to resources for learning Ukrainian. With all the calls from the US for Zelenskyy to be replaced or step down, Ukrainians are now starting to worry about their president's safety. Zelenskyy is a legitimately elected president with a 65%+ approval rating in Ukraine. Remember, Russia had tried to assassinate him many times since 2022
