The downstream effect of this brain drain is beyond bad for the US. If other countries take advantage of this we're (even more) cooked.

You'd think at least one member of the folks on that signal text would resign in a state of shame.

Problem is, this administration lacks shame.

It seem insane for a US Senator to say we've all been subjected to "a relentless bombardment of Marxist propaganda." But what he means by this is 1) there was a Burger King ad with an interracial couple and 2) Star Wars Episodes VII-IX had a female lead.

I have to say: Chuck Schumer is a weak man and a fool. This was the one cudgel Dems had. Now it's up to the courts which we new from the beginning were at best going to slow some things down. There's 18 hours left to somehow bring additional pressure to bear. It will be really hard to do that.

Will the states fill in the massive gap that the federal government is creating? Maybe some for blue states, but I'm mostly skeptical.

If we can "avoid a government shutdown" by voting for this CR, then why is the entire Department of Education closed today? Why is USAID closed? Why are hundreds of billions in grant contracts frozen?

We are already in the shutdown. And your votes DON'T stop it. In fact, they allow it to expand.

New: Last month, a group of moderate Democratic consultants, campaign staffers, elected officials & party leaders gathered in Loudoun County, Virginia, for a retreat where they plotted their party’s comeback.

Rahm Emanuel's stalwart efforts to remain a reprehensible person each day is almost admirable.

From "anti-DEI" to bald-faced racism. In addition to his importance in American history as a whole, Douglass had a direct hand in our military story. He helped raise the 54th Massachusetts regiment, which included his sons. But, perhaps, we are no longer allowed to honor any black patriots.
“The Maryland National Guard must decline events which celebrates individuals based all or in part on immutable characteristics,” the memo said.

Douglass was an abolitionist, suffragist, orator and author. That’s what we celebrate him. Let’s be clear: This bars celebrating him because he was Black.
