Being a Portlander, in our season of rain, and the time we become a city of books… I am having an argument with a fellow neighbor. Best Vonnegut book to sum up where we are today? I would’ve gone with Breakfast of Champions…. Any thoughts?

I figured Portland would implode by being hit by a 7-11 slushy. Seen it happen before. (I’m from Vermont…. 3 feet of snow and schools are open). But this puzzled me: I was trying to see my doctor. The office closed due to weather. Liquor store aside? Open. Medical help either way, I guess.

Fluoride being banned in water. Chlorine is already added. My question is this: What will happen when they realize table salt typically comes with iodine added? Did I just let out a secret? Better burn the periodic table. What if they suspect C, carbon, as the enemy. Eek.

I love the Portland Central Library. Especially that it seems to have been designed by M.C Escher; a sketch of his is where I think I am living these days.

Lot of chatter about the fluoridation of water. Normally, I wouldn’t think much of the banter, except that the issue was the plot device in the movie Dr. Strangelove. An idiot with power saw the fluoridation of water as destroying our precious essence. Anyway, the world ends. Nobody has seen it?

Looking at the entropy of the selection process, I would like to nominate myself to lead the Department of Lighthouses. My qualifications: I don’t know anything about them. I do know that I am qualified to destroy anything I’m in charge of.
