Today is my mother’s birthday. We lost her in January 2022 to a hemorrhagic stroke, and I miss her and think about her nearly every day. Take time with your mother, you’re only given one. Mine would have turned 88 today. Rest in peace, forever wandering with your beloved dogs.

I just discovered this vanity plate is available in Michigan. It’s doubtful the state will allow it, but I’m tempted to try next time I renew.

If you have a pittie (or mix, like Teddy here), you’ll not see anything unusual about this.

This is a picture of a wall clock in my home office. After a moment, you might notice something different about it. I was inspired by Adm. Grace Hopper, a computer scientist for the Navy, who is said to have made one to illustrate her disdain for conventional thinking. I salute you, Amazing Grace!

Our pittie mix does this ALL the time… when he’s not demanding I cede him my recliner!

So, like most people, I love bacon bits. Unlike most people, I make my own. It’s a lot of work and time, but the results are worth it. I especially love them on my homemade potato soup. OTOH, this is what you can get from nearly three pounds (44 oz, to be precise) of bacon - 10.7 ounces

Happy thanksgiving to everyone reading this. After spending the day out of town with family, I’m relaxing at home with the pie my wife made with cherries I picked from the tree in our front yard. Some days I still find some small moments to be thankful for.

If you’re unaware, German shorthair pointers put themselves into the most comical sleeping positions of any breed of dog. Here, Pup-Pup looks like he’s covering his face in shame.

Must follow up the previous post with our other fur baby, Teddy. He’s an 80 pound pit bull mix (along with bullmastiff, Neapolitan mastiff, and AmStaff) rescue, who is as sweet a dog as you’ll ever meet. He’s also strong as a bull.

Following a common practice here of posting our fur babies. This is Pup-Pup, our German shorthair pointer, adopted from my dad, who was physically unable to care for such an active boy.
