Travels a bit, sometimes writes about it. Likes include Japan, chocolate, coffee, cats.
Now living in Tāmaki Makaurau.
I worked briefly at Police, and it seemed quite common for people to move between Police and NZDF, in both directions.

The group requesting the urgent job were highly embarrassed that a senior manager was standing at the copier & tried to apologise. He told them no, the admin team would always provide someone to do their urgent work, but it wouldn't always be X. "Urgent" requests dropped markedly after that. 2/2

I worked at a place where one group made a habit of doing this. When the admin person who generally did the copying & binding was asked to stay back yet again after several evenings of "urgent" reports, our manager (part of the leadership team) stepped in. He did the report production. 1/2

Same here in New Zealand. Nothing for objecting.

Yes, I suspect they don't have an in-house lawyer as that's one of these useless expensive back-office jobs, right?

Of course it's dodgy, but now they may not even have a valid contract? Maybe they should have got the legal advice first. Cleaning up the mess is costing more.

I still can't believe it. I've had to draft contracts in a hurry, but that is so basic. The higher-up doing the signing has always wanted to know that Legal has approved it.

As a former public servant who drafted a lot of contracts, I don't understand how this happened. Legal teams I have dealt with always checked the legal status of the other party, and wouldn't approve signing if it wasn't satisfactory.

I read it as 2 bridges, 1 to the stadium and another to the other side of the motorway.

Worth noting that there is already an underpass from Mountain View Road to Ivanhoe Road, so no need to have a bridge across the motorway.

14 according to the Herald, which describes him as “prominent “. Stuff also says “prominent”.

Nothing in there about making it compulsory to include public transport in the ticket price. The Monster Trucks thing was a nuisance because so many people came by car, causing massive congestion.

I have spotted the occasional certificate from barista training in New Zealand.

There are some great Japanese baristas. Yesterday I had one of my best ever cappuccinos from a place in Matsushima, a small tourist town near Sendai.

Curious about the short term accommodation provided and applications accepted from NZ and overseas. Have they already got someone lined up and the ad is just a formality?
