Transit polls well. We use that popularity to push for more reliable and abundant transit. Let's make it better than driving.

Listening to CBC re: Granville Island & its desire to revitalize. (problem: too many cars)
Simply copy North Van's Lonsdale Quay: car-free, plenty of free activities for kiddies, market, food, shopping, excellent transit connections, music. It's a simple formula.

Thanks to the hard work of the Better PATH volunteers from @hudcostreets.org who worked hard to get the Port Authority to finally listen to the demands of PATH riders. Also big thanks to the organizers who have led the effort; Jack McKee and John Taranu.
Please sit down before looking at this screenshot.

Better things might be possible!

Guess which one has fully active signal priority? A phase before left-turning cars?

Vancouver's single commuter rail line is terrible on paper, with just 5 trains per day. But...it actually has insanely high ridership? What Canadian transit magic is at play here?! youtu.be/YlFzR5_3RWM
5 Trains a Day: How is Vancouver's Single Commuter Rail Line So Popular?!
I didn't think I'd be saying this about a five-times-a-day service, but there's some Canadian transit magic at play here! (Well, plus density near stations and extremely smart bus pulses.) Check out…

Speeding up buses along Kingsway will have an outsized benefit for the network—but Vancouver and TransLink can do better than two minutes of time savings per trip, argues Ben Chang
The Kingsway transit priority proposals are good, but we can do better - Better Columbia
TransLink and the City of Vancouver are proposing transit priority measures and bus stop balancing along Kingsway, focusing on Route 19. And it’s a great place to start! The 19 is the 9th most used bus route in the entire region1, while also being the 4th slowest1, which means improvements that are made here will […]

I cannot stop thinking about this post from Seattle DOT claiming that bus lanes would cause traffic armageddon. Modelling software will happily spit out apocalyptic results if you want it to, but it's a lie. How will Mayor Katie Wilson navigate this with staff?

THIS IS NOT A DRILL

TRANSIT RIDERS HAVE TAKEN OVER THE CITY OF SEATTLE
With basically all the ballots in the city of Seattle's mayoral election counted, Katie Wilson is now above 50 percent, with Mayor Bruce Harrell sliding to 49.6 percent. They're currently within the mandatory recount requirements, but machine recounts don't generally change things much.
