Honestly, this is the funniest error boot I've had a video game pull on me.

who was your first video game crush?

I'm saying this as an asexual--Regal Bryant remains husbando material in my eyes. Man got me to learn how to cook.

Also, literally has the same VA as the previous character in Japan. And he's now Jigen's voice actor. Circle of life; good choices all around.

Seems like this is a trending meme, so go for it! (The grammar on this image is driving me nuts, though...)

Post a pic of you that's not actually you:

Post a video game from the year you were born. (Assuming you are young enough for the records to be consistent between American and Japanese release dates...😅)

I don't know what outfit would be on the top, but I definitely know what would be on the bottom.

I need you to understand why the PCB for Wisdom Tree's 1992 release of "Spiritual Warfare" grosses me out. Like, what in the hell is going on in the upper left side of the board?

Although, the busted traces on the left side aren't the manufacturer's fault. At least, I assume...

So, this is a PCB for the NES game "Vice: Project Doom." I would say that this is standard for its year of production and company (Sammy, 1991.) It has 1 electrolytic capacitor, as well as MMC3, PRG, CHR, and CIC lock-out chips from well-known manufacturers.

I show you this because...

Gif no worky. Another picture of fishy.

Oarfish fascinate me. It's one of those species that has been with our collective memory for thousands of years, but we're just now starting to understand how they operate.

I'm "too intense." (Although, I admit, I'm not a lot of fun. Not exactly warm, either.)

And if you wanted an even closer look... yes, this figure indeed has fundoshi!

If you wanted to take a closer look at the Goemon figure...

I guess I can post my Twitch recap of the year. (You bet your ass I'm one of the top 10% of retro viewers.)

Fujiko and Goemon should have training days together.

This is all I'm putting out for holiday decorations this year.

I made a crack about Lupin competing for the SOTN Jewel Sword in "Aux Deus Sourires." "Vampire Survivors" has served me this even more Lupin-esque weapon.

Although, I imagine he wouldn't want to use this, himself. It'd be more something he'd have to take from some Goldfinger-like villain...

One more graph: physical games by value. Maximums, minimums, averages, and medians are all included. (Because, ya know. Averages != medians.)

If you want a regional breakdown for my games, here you go.

Probably would have helped to have this key earlier.

"N/A" for beating a game probably sounds strange. In this context, I'm using it to label games that are more like repositories or serve some esoteric function. This is the label for "Lupin the 3rd" digital encyclopedias and a tarot game.

2011-2024: Video game market shifts to 90% digital purchases. Physical media released in lower prints or only in the Japanese market. Becomes almost exclusively Nintendo based around 2016 (minus a re-release of “El Viento” for the Sega Genesis.) I’m also working full-time.
October 30, 2024 at 7:47 PM
2006-2010: Video game market begins shift to favoring digital content (DLC, Steam games, online patches.) I was in college from Fall of 2006 to Spring of 2010, so that put a restriction on my free time/money. Xbox 360 influence (green) is almost solely due to playing FPS games with classmates.
October 30, 2024 at 7:45 PM
1998-2005: One of my favorite eras in gaming (although, 1997 has some of my favorite games ever.) Sony spike is almost exclusively RPG related. Nintendo titles can be boiled down to “character in Super Smash Bros.” related purchases.
October 30, 2024 at 7:43 PM
1993-1997: I’m chocking the lull here up to the market switching from cartridge to disc format and the growth struggles that came from that with many consoles. Nintendo was also just getting off the ground with the N64 and Game Boy Color, so these consoles haven't skewed my numbers yet.
