Today’s Budget didn’t contain any details of desperately needed investment in social care. Unpaid carers are still being taken for granted. This has to stop. It’s high time to make access to social care fairer for dementia carers. #dementiacarers dementiacarers.org.uk/news/stop-ta...

"Can I talk to you about social care support for dementia carers? Do you want to flip our coin?" We believe social care support should be freely available to dementia carers. If you agree, add your name✍️https://dementiacarers.org.uk/make-social-care-fairer-for-dementia-carers/

We're delighted to be at Dementia Congress today. We're particularly pleased to be here with a carer who's sharing her perspective as part of the panel on the use of technology in dementia care. A great opportunity to share ideas and learnings. Thank you @dementiacommunity.bsky.social #UKDC2025

Sadly these findings from @carers-uk.bsky.social are not a surprise. We know how much dementia carers are struggling and how many are worried about their finances. We support the recommendations being made for a new social contract for carers.
Unpaid carers are at breaking point.

Our new #CostOfCaring report reveals a system stretched to its limit – and it’s carers who are paying the price.

52% are caring for longer hours

49% have cut back on essentials like food and heating

42% say their health has worsened

We welcome research into improving dementia diagnosis, but investment in this must be matched by investment in care and support for families after a dementia diagnosis. Too many carers are left feeling invisible, overwhelmed and alone after a diagnosis. dementiacarers.org.uk/news/we-need...
We need gold standards in dementia care and support
Investment in improved diagnostic tools needs to be matched by investment in the care and support available to families after a dementia diagnosis.
