PTA's "One Battle After Another:" Timely authoritarian govt. shadow, broken immigration, radicals of both stripes, purity tests. Amazing performances from Taylor, DiCaprio, Penn will be nominated. It's thrilling and funny. The slow car chase w/surprise end = all timer.

The Brothers Quay's "Sanatorium...of the Hourglass" adapts an interesting story, but buries the narrative under aesthetic choices. "Street of Crocodiles" was one of my favorite short films as a student: a great point of view. Now I don't understand why they still make films.🤷♂️

Kudos to these clever leaders. But a concern: Pride flags belong to stateless affinity groups. Why appropriate them to validate the President's order? Why not defy it or abide it and find other ways to support the LGBTQ+? Flags aren't the hill to die on.

My fav queer Met Gala lewks? Tramell Tillman's vampiric tails with a silk cala lily, Cole Escola's mod print with suspenders worn off-shoulder. Janelle Monae's cubist interpretation of Mr. Monopoly that hatched from a cape/pod. Justice Smith soaked in butter and a kerchief.
