Geek, doc, dad, drone, former Capitol Hill Classic race director, righter of wrongs. Shouldn't have to be said, but views expressed here are my own. He/him. Proudly Washington DC.
There are many reasons to laud Costco today, but the biggest might be that it sounds like some non-zero number of red-hat-wearing, barely-sentient numpties are cancelling their memberships today… meaning less of them inside for the rest of us to deal with. ✨

the AEB mandate was voluntarily adopted by the entire US auto industry because it has an unambiguous and independently validated impact on safety... eliminating it is the stupidest automotive safety proposal I have heard in my entire life
Exclusive: Republicans plan to challenge vehicle-safety mandates, such as automatic emergency braking and alarms that remind drivers a child is in the back seat.
Senate Committee to Challenge Auto-Safety Mandates That Hurt ‘Affordability’
Republicans are questioning the value of some features, such as automatic braking and rear-seat reminders.

The New York Times' story about Trump calling for the execution of members of Congress ran on Page 16 today, with an itty-bitty promo on the front about halfway down the page.
No wonder Trump thinks he can get away with anything.

JESUS. This is *brutal* for DOJ.
The court issues a scathing ruling today in the Comey case. Judge William Fitzpatrick notes, among other things, that Lindsey Halligan made two false statements of the law when responding to questions by grand jurors. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

pre-writing a devastating obituary for your enemy is god-tier hating of a kind you don’t often see anymore. renaissance haterism. beautiful stuff.
A Sharon Begley byline, almost 5 years after her death.

Upon hearing the news James Watson had died, a STAT reporter said in our Slack, "I wish I could read what Sharon would have written."

Incredible news: Sharon in fact did pre-write a Watson obit. And it is masterful and excoriating.

Not gonna lie, between Cheney, Mamdani, Sherrill, Spanberger, and now Sean Dunn (the guy who threw the subway sandwich at the CBP officer, and who was JUST FOUND NOT GUILTY!)… it's been a not-terrible week.

She knew what she was doing by writing for the Post. She knew her words would be used to target players like Banda, Kundananji, and Chawinga. She's a bigot who is calling for invasive testing to "solve a problem" that doesn't exist. Its racist transphobic bullshit and has no place in this league
Deeply disappointed in Liz Eddy here, who I've always liked and respected. A reminder that we have a lot of work to do when it comes to educating the public about why trans inclusion isn't just morally correct, but competitively sound share.google/Gjf9a1Sl01eL...

🏳️‍⚧️ Today, and every day, we stand with supporters groups across the NWSL to say - loud and clear: Trans People Belong.

In the stands, on the pitch, in our communities - everywhere.

Everyone deserves to feel safe, respected, and celebrated.

No exceptions. 💙🩶🧡

In addition to any moral or competitive arguments,

1. This is a fake problem. There aren't any trans women in NWSL. There aren't any trans women in the immediate pipeline that I'm aware of.

2. Using Banda for the cover photo here is obviously just extremely racist.

Standing and defending the fundamental truths of the Republic means rejecting and opposing loathsome people like Johnson.
Johnson: "We call it the Hate America Rally that will happen Saturday. Let's see who shows up for that. I bet you you'll see Hamas supporters, I bet you'll see antifa types, I bet you'll see Marxists on full display, people who don't want to stand and defend the foundational truths of this republic"
