Venmo is owned by PayPal, aka the company that made Elon Musk and Peter Thiel rich. Avoid using it if at all possible, though there are no good alternatives AFAIK. All digital payment apps fund fascists to some degree or another.

We desperately need alternatives to Venmo and PayPal that are not owned by fascists like Peter Thiel. Fintech apps like these and Square are how many of them made (and continue to make) their billions.

I disagree. Major corporate platforms profit from any and all engagement, and they are the very thing we need to overthrow. We can’t fight them if we’re actively feeding them, and “spreading the message” lets us feel proactive without bringing about real change.

Both Reddit and Tumblr unfortunately sell their content to AI companies for training, and have shady CEOs, so I try not to contribute to either one. I do think message boards need to make a comeback!
