Peacock ore (Bornite Cu5FeS4) is a very striking mineral due to oxodation. This mineral is a commonly mined ore for its high copper content. This has also lead the mineral to be known as peacock copper. When heated, the mineral also becomes magnetic!

Originally Fluorite was derived from the Latin verb fluere, meaning to flow as it was very easily melted and used as a flux in iron smelting. The term fluorescent was named after the mineral fluorite because it was a common fluorescent material at the time. Yay English! #crystals #minerals #fluorite
