People keep asking what prompted me to study/write a book about Black-owned bookstores and the honest answer really is that I’m just nosey.

Extremely on brand for GA. I remember my auntie went through a phase where she was a hitting a deer every other week for about three months one year.
They taught me this same thing with deer in Georgia. They said if you can’t stop, just keep driving
In Maine in driver's ed, they teach you to *accelerate* when you are about to hit a moose on a road so the speed will carry it over your car, otherwise w slammed breaks its legs will break and the body will smash into the windshield, likely killing driver/passenger (wish I were making this up)

Once again my university has cancelled the African American Literature course due to low enrollment. The frustrating part is my professors all encourage us to speak up about our frustrations but you can tell that they’re terrified about their jobs being at risk if they do.
