I never know when grief is going to hit. Yesterday it was in Costco, crying over a box of cookies because they reminded me of the ones my ex mother in law used to send from Hawaii. Grief is weird and tender and it shows up when it wants.

I don’t really know how to put it into words, but it makes me sad when friendships fade and I don’t know why. No fight. No closure. Just memories with someone who slowly becomes a stranger. And I think that kind of loss hurts in its own quiet way.
