This from @gelliottmorris.com in his newsletter today is exactly what those of us in polling try to explain -- "voters" are different from "Americans" or "adults" -- so whatever any pol's approval rating is does NOT equate to what voters think. That can help explain how someone like Trump won twice.

Actually no, this is another example of the “college” way of looking at politics. Majorities of voters DO agree on a lot so why do we not elect and rewards compromisers? Because issues don’t drive a majority of voters’ decisions in national races. If they did, these authors wouldn’t be perplexed.

What is wrong with the @nytimes editors?! EVERY major news org — even the @WSJ — played it straight but the Times had to find a “but” no matter how minor and irrelevant.

Headlines are more important than ever as so many people get their understanding of major news stories almost exclusively from them. So what a miserable failure of @nytimes.com and @wsj.com to run VERY misleading heads. He raised the tariffs on our largest trading partner to 125%. NOT a “reversal.”
