Landlocked sailor hoping to get back to sea. I grew up in Albuquerque and I consider it my hometown. I really miss the Pacific Northwest though. Big hearted fella.
I was a member of the estrus crust club for a couple years, great records

When I was driving for Lyft last year I had a passenger that lived on the far west side of Albuquerque and pointed out some houses and said they’re building an entire neighborhood for a tv show. I’m pretty sure this is the show

I took this picture of the Seay leaving Blount Island in Jacksonville in 2012. I think she was headed to Diego Garcia

The only boats in the navy are submarines. Sorry I don’t make the rules.

I’m happy to hear that.

How’s your dad doing. I didn’t see a follow up post and I was concerned for both of you. Had my own emergency at sea three years ago and it didn’t turn out well

(Thinking about all of those charcuterie boards I enjoyed) phew I shared them with my wife.

(Thinking about the white wine and aperol spritzes I drank while eating them) hmm

In the us coast guard we had cutters and boats. What’s the difference between a cutter and a boat? A boat can fit on a cutter but a cutter can’t fit on a boat

But I do think Charboaterie is more melodic and therefore delightful.

If it’s on a ship it’s A. A ship isn’t a boat. That’s my pedantic merchant mariner response

Same in my Albuquerque apartment. Freaked out my cats so they’re hiding under the bed even though they’re both Washingtonians.

I lived in Washington for 22 years and I would get bummed out if it was sunny and warm for too long so I kind of know how she feels. Maybe it was from growing up in New Mexico. I’m back in New Mexico now and it’s rough going.

I was a deckhand and a bosun on that ship. I love that ship.

I reposted my reply because I thought it seemed like I have brain damage how I deleted some text. But yeah damn. Got tied up at 8 am and didn’t get ashore until around noon because they’re very thorough.

Australian customs is no joke. Went to Darwin on a ship in the merchant marine. Sent a six page questionnaire while we were still at sea asking questions like have you ever been trained to use a firearm (yes I was in the USCG). Didn’t let my captain go ashore because he had a DUI 40 years ago.
