And the same with constantly rushing to say, "of course government is bloated." It's another thing that every voter "knows" that really isn't true at all. What is true: Republican administrations keep cutting taxes to the 1% and creating revenue shortfalls because trickle down never does.
We should reject outright the framing that the answer is to cut spending, that it needs to be cut. Even giving in to that is playing into conservatives’ hands, letting them set the edges of the debate.
Welker to Slotkin: "Democrats were in charge for four years. You were in Congress at the time. Why didn't Democrats do more to cut government spending when they were in charge?"

I don't know what's possible at the federal level, beyond the filibuster, but if I were House and Senate Democrats I'd be looking for the best parliamentarian I could find to gum up the works. I once saw a state senator in WVa bring things to a halt for WEEKS by refusing to waive reading of bills.

Y'all, my baby just has his first Reese's cup - at age 21. Thanks to the NIH for funding a long-ago study that made this treatment possible. And, no, it's not about being able to eat yummy junk food. It's about preventing reactions that can lead to death due to accidental exposure.

And not only did he lie, he escalated. They're definitely going for privatization again. Tried it under 43 and failed. But this time, you have a bunch of people believing the "fraud, waste and abuse" excuse for everything who will glibly go along then FAFO.
What he said about Social Security payments has been repeatedly debunked - so the question isn’t whether he’s lying about this, the question is why.

What is this a pretext for? He and the GOP have long shown interest in going after Social Security. What are they going to try?

That disgraceful bit of theater just handed one to the Chinese as well as to Putin. Because when Starlink is cut off in Ukraine, if it isn't already, it paves the way for SpaceSail to sail right on in.

Straight outta P2025.
New on MSNBC: Pete Hegseth is considering firing a slate of military generals and flag officers as early as this week, according to two defense officials and three congressional officials.

They should totally cancel an IT contract for Social Security since the kidult software experts have such a firm grasp of how those systems work.🙄
The DOGE guys didn’t just make one $8B mistake in their savings list — “they are getting it wrong with alarming consistency”

They don’t seem to understand how these things are calculated.

When your college sophomore texts you videos of jambalaya he's making at midnight and the munchies hit hard, you kind of regret ever teaching him to cook.

I scared the crap out of my dogs by applauding when she said this. Related: LeVell was a waste of a seat at the table. I like what Phillip is trying to do here, though I wish she wouldn't let people talk over her and each other. But this guy added nothing.
Phillip: Okay hold on, hold on. I'm just going to stop it right here because we're not going to get off on a wrong foot. Please do not address a grown woman as dear in a condescending tone. Do not do that at my table

This. This is class.
This incredible woman has more courage than any Republican member of Congress. Representative-Elect Sarah McBride responds to the pathetic transgender bathroom ban just announced by the coward Mike Johnson.

I've had this coffee mug for years but just now realized - DANG. I wish I had that lens IRL. It's not quite long enough for most of what I shoot, but I'd sacrifice that for the speed.

It's really not any crazier than what we've seen so far. At this point, Sanjay Gupta is about the only person we can rule out.

I expected nothing other than full-on Project 2025 from this bunch. But even I'm stunned at the breath-taking incompetence of most Cabinet nominees - and in areas that can, and will, bite us all in the butt. I'm sure that's a feature, not a bug.

Hi everyone.

The Onion, with the help of the Sandy Hook families, has purchased InfoWars.

We are planning on making it a very funny, very stupid website.

We have retained the services of some Onion and Clickhole Hall of Famers to pull this off.

I can't wait to show you what we have cooked up.
The Onion Buys Alex Jones’s Infowars Out of Bankruptcy
The satirical news site planned to turn Infowars into a parody of itself, mocking “weird internet personalities” who peddle conspiracy theories and health supplements.

I guess one ironclad way to stay out of 25th Amendment trouble is to have a Cabinet as bat-crazy as you are.
