I saw a good bit of the press conference. This is basically what Senator Hassan said. She said this administration forced a choice between healthcare and food, and that people need to eat first. I have my thoughts on why this wasn’t adopted as an overall message, but that’s for another post

I bought some no name products while camping in Canada thus summer. They were the only options for a couple things we needed in the small grocery nearby. They were way better quality than 1970s white label generics. That stuff was truly awful.

Anyway, there are moments of crisis and scandal when historically excluded people can start to break through. It is easy for those breakthroughs to be limited and mitigated by pre-existing hierarchies. We need to both see the break throughs and support the structural changes.

I am in NJ and am going to a small one tonight, with other grassroots folks. I am nervous, but hopeful. If the worst happens, I’ll be with a group that has been through alot together. Still, I feel like I’m tempting fate.
