Finally finished this quilt top- I picked up the pieces and pattern from an estate sale. Once it’s quilted it’ll go to a charity. I hope that would make the woman who started it happy.

Not my favorite, but my most recent layer cake quilts
Finished quilt laying on a wood floor. Blocks are an attic window variation set on point. There is a pale gray 5 inch square in the top center of each block. The rest of the block is divided on an angle with two different fabrics. Colors: Black, medium gray, bright white, navy, sky, pale mint, medium green olive, dark gold, yellow, medium and light lilac, metallic gold accents. The quilting is a mix of swirls and bubbles. The binding is lilac and gold. Quilt laying on wooden floor (just visible at the edges of the picture. 42 blocks made up of 4 strips all different widths and 3 different fabrics. The outer two are the same fabric and the 2 widest, the center two are the thinner strips. Layout is 6 by 7 blocks, alternating between horizontal and vertical stripes. Colors: Red, pink, salmon, medium and pale aqua, Apple green, white and metallic silver. The fabric collection is a Christmas collection with stripes, candy cane stripes, snowflakes, old fashioned ornaments, ribbons, bows, check, polka dots, flowers, and foliage in a variety of sizes.

Art nouveau style wood nymph-beautiful woman with red hair and antlers decorated with shells, leaves, and stars. She is dressed in a flowing deep plunge dress of silvery purple with a pink ribbon tied at the waist. She has arm bands, bracelet, necklaces, and an anklet of tiny silver charms. Seated on a bench right arm supporting her, left hand holding a star up to examine, right leg wrapped in swathes of her dress, left leg bare and bent with her foot rests on a large, cracked terra cotta pot with small handles at the lip. Behind her is an odd magenta sky with brown clouds. A brown border with curves and embellishments and a dark magenta border outside of that. The top will have “BOHEMIA” in white and cream arched over the image- currently only the bottom of a few letters have been completed. Below the bench are a few pillows, there will be more details, dress, and borders below. On the left (which is where I have been working) has borders about halfway down the image with flowers, a partial hand to be completed.

Third finish of 2025- Antelope Canyon
Finished quilt spread out on a wood floor. Quilt is black and shades of gray. A large block log cabin variation. The use of color creates a secondary pattern of a full circle in the center and 4 quarter circle, one in each corner. Pattern is called Antelope Canyon.

8 long strips of fabric running from the top to the bottom of the picture. Each strip is about 1 inch wide composed equal sized parallelograms about 2 inches long of a range of gray fabrics, from pale to black and distinctive textural patterns. Under the strips is a quilt made from the same fabrics laid out in straight lines. The quilting is medium gray with long angled lines.

Freshly back from the long arm quilter
Unfinished quilt spread out on a wood floor. Quilt is black and shades of gray. A large block log cabin variation. The use of color creates a secondary pattern of a full circle in the center and 4 quarter circle, one in each corner. Excess batting and backing need to be removed before quilt can be bound. Pattern is called Antelope Canyon. Close up of quilt showing the quilting design: 3D Rectangular blocks on an angle. Gray thread on black and gray fabrics. The backside is folded over on an angle running from the top left corner of the picture to the bottom right. The backing fabric is wavy lines of various thickness in dark shades of the rainbow.

New start today. Looks like it’s just Black and white but there are a surprising amount of blended grays.

For this year I’m going to switch between my three big cross stitch projects. Since I finished my peacock I have been working on Medusa Dollmakers Mermaid 1 over 1 on 28 count
