Provincial Housing Targets

The same report shows that Saanich is exceeding provincial housing targets for the creation of family-suitable homes of 3 bedrooms or more.

We’re making great progress. There’s more work still to do to ensure everyone can find a home in Saanich that meets their needs and budgets.

It includes the creation of rain gardens and extensive tree and vegetation planting at Tillicum Elementary School and on the road right of way around Albina St, Maddock Ave & Orillia St.

The work is supported by a $396,865 grant from the Province’s Disaster Risk Reduction-Climate Adaptation

The plan doesn’t rezone your property. It envisions a future use. Any change to the use still requires a rezoning. Your assessed value is based on the use prescribed by the current zone not potential use.

A highlight for me was meeting with Transportation Minister Mike Farnworth, who congratulated our region for creating a regional transportation service. The new service lets us speak with one voice about our transportation priorities. To use the Minister’s own words, “that’s how we get things done!”

That means creating a range of housing options like duplexes, triplexes, townhouses, apartments, condos, and more single-family homes so everybody can find a home that meets their needs and their budget in Saanich.
