On a loan with an ~5.5% interest rate,
15yr term has interest equal to ~0.5X the principal,
30yr term has interest equal to ~1.0X the principal,
50yr term has interest equal to ~2.0X the principal.
So for a 50yr term your house will cost you ~3X as much as the original loan amount.
