When the expanded occupation began, the MSMA hotline became the hotline for reporting all police & fed activity in the DMV area. Our operators stepped up to triple-staff our 24-7 hotline. We created post detention teams.

In Sep, we launched Film the Police DC alongside Harriet’s Wildest Dreams.
Hotline & Film the Police DC When the expanded occupation began in August, the MSMA hotline became the hotline for reporting all police & fed activity in the DMV area. Our operators stepped up to triple-staff our 24-7 hotline. Also, our admin team quickly adapted our systems, built more infrastructure, and trained more operators to handle the influx of calls, texts & emails. Since Aug 12, the hotline team fielded: • 4,750 incoming calls • Thousands of text messages • 227 intakes for detained people for legal referrals & mutual aid • Requests for the DMV Accompaniment Network On Sep 2, we launched Film the Police DC in collaboration with Harriet's Wildest Dreams. Since then, we have received over 900 emails with photos & videos. Accompaniment & Post Detention Care We formed Post Detention Care teams who have been reaching out to families who have had loved ones detained since August. We then connect them with our existing mutual aid and legal resources as well as a team from a local faith institution or community group to create a pod of ongoing support for the impacted family. Since the expanded occupation began, our comrades at the DMV Accompaniment Network (DAN) have done 65 accompaniments to immigration check-ins, appointments, or court. They also have significantly grown their volunteer network in the past 3 months, adding 120 new volunteers and hosting 7 trainings, covering DC, Baltimore, Towson, Herndon, Centreville, Warrenton, and Chevy Chase.

Increased detentions and police/ fed presence heavily limited our compa's ability to leave their homes to work, get groceries and essentials, or even go to immigration court. In response, our grocery, perinatal, one roof clinic, furniture, and recreation teams adapted and expanded their work.
Food, Supplies, and Resettlement Increased detentions and police/ fed presence heavily limited our compa's ability to work or leave their homes to get groceries and essentials. In response, our MSMA grocery & free store teams adapted & scaled up their work to deliver essentials, including groceries, clothes, and diapers, to up to 100 families every week, reaching nearly 2,500 people. Our furniture team picked up over 60 pieces of furniture (cribs, mattresses, and couches) from donors to distribute to 20 families. Unable to do in-person events out of satety concerns, our recreation team delivered toys and games to families and had smaller hangouts at compas' homes. Legal support and family care MSMA's One Roof Clinic continued to support our compas with pro se asylum apps along with providing up to date, accurate information on relevant immigration changes (e.g., application fees, KYR, TPS). One Roof also pivoted, in response to need, assisting folks with changing in-person immigration court hearings to virtual and helping compas from Venezuela with filing re-registrations for TPS when they were only given just a week to do so. Since Aug 12, our perinatal team - • delivered perinatal packages to 17 mothers, sourcing the majority of items from donations. • matched volunteer doulas with mothers who are giving birth alone due to their partners being detained. • delivered baby food, diapers, milk, and medicine to postpartum women • supported many pregnant women through DC Alliance changes & with last-minute applications

Esta mañana (1/9) a las 8am federales detuvieron a una pareja en la 18 con Park NW. Rompieron la ventana, arrastraron al esposo y los arrestaron. Cuando un miembro de la comunidad paró para grabar, fue agarrado y amenazado con spray de pimienta por este pedazo de mierda.
