If you haven't read this book - and if you're not especially interested in medieval Wales, that's not surprising - you really, really should.

The first chapter alone is extraordinary. The writing about as good as academic writing gets, and stylish with it.

Currently working on the portrayal of books in 15th C. Scotland for 'Scotland on Parchment' key to this are some of the magnificent details on painted works in the church of St Marnock, Fowlis Easter. A church now facing closure and sale. Founded in 1453, an astonishing place, it must be preserved!
