#84: Tetsuo: the Iron Man (1989). The body horror equivalent of industrial music, an assault on the senses so aggressive it starts to feel a little long even at just over 60 minutes.

A ★★★★ review of Tetsuo: The Iron Man (1989)
Wild, noisy, and nigh-incomprehensible, a relentless aesthetic attack. Despite being just over an hour long it's almost exhausting by the end, maybe because there's almost no downtime. Still, it's a v...

#29: Yakuza 4 Remastered.
I love these games, I try to play one a year, but what the FUCK happened with the writing in this one??? The finale seemed cool for a bit until it tripped all over itself five different ways. An unreal number of fumbles.

#28: Kirby's Dream Land 2.
Another Air Riders Direct, another Kirby game playthrough for me I guess. The animal friends are fun, but oof the level design. You can really tell Sakurai wasn't on this one.

#83: The Devil's Backbone (2001). Some friends got to see del Toro's Frankenstein so I watched this instead. Not at all disappointed! What a lovely ghost story.

A ★★★★ review of The Devil's Backbone (2001)
So gorgeously shot, absolutely packed with potent images, especially the unexploded bomb sitting in the courtyard. You can forget at times that this is a war movie, but that bomb is always present, ha...

#82: Candyman (1992). A grab bag of ideas and elements so good it almost doesn't matter that it doesn't quite coalesce. Also bees.

Kind of a mishmash of a lot of different ideas. A horrific act of racist violence that creates a legacy of murder. An urban legend bogeyman invested in the continuance of his own myth. A white woman c...

#81: A Nightmare on Elm Street Part 2: Freddy's Revenge (1985). Two classic, queerphobic horror movies in a row I guess. At least Psycho was actually a good movie. 😩

#80: Psycho (1960). Feels more like a mystery or crime drama than horror at times, forming an interesting tension blend that only sours at its over-explained ending.

#78: Videodrome (1983). Third from today. Ohhhh this shit rules. At first seems to be railing against sex and violence in media, but obviously contradicting itself, given *gestures broadly*. Ends up as something a lot more complex.
