It's often used as a term of endearment over here. In this case.. not so much. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

I played around with the opening scenario online and it seemed pretty straightforward. Love the idea of the political dimension though, that's what really intrigues me.

War of the Ring is an obsessive rabbit hole though. One minute you're painting minis, the next you're sculpting and making strongholds - next minute you wonder where the years went 🤣

Such an interesting looking game. Just waiting for the reprint. Although online is probably a great option, not sure my family would appreciate it taking up the table for the time it'd take to play a full game!

The V&A is full of beautiful copies of things. Scan them and make hyper realistic copies and put the originals back to the Parthenon where they belong. Right thing to do and would create a load of jobs in creating them.

Looking forward to giving it a try. Need to brush up on the differences between this and Friedrich first!

I don't help myself by drifting back to old favourites when there's plenty of new stuff to be punched and set up instead (Italia 1917-1918 arrived, but somehow I've managed to put 1866 on the table instead 🤷)

Worst thing about (late) middle age is the realisation that you have more games than years left.. 🤣

I'm always worried about a misfire with this type and you end up pinging the counter halfway across the room like a pumpkin seed!

Great. Just bought Italia 1917-1918 yesterday. Looking forward to playing it over the Xmas period.

Can remember reading this on the London Tube on my way to work (followed by Caesar's Gallic Wars). Good times!

So much for the unspoken social contract that our kids would inherit a better standard of living than us... Glum times ahead I fear.

Totally agree James, still think it's head and shoulders above the others. Imperium is perfectly pleasant, but for me the theme is pretty thin. Dune, Blackbeard and Republic of Rome were the gaming staples of my group right through the 80's and 90's

He's unflushable at the moment, but the toilet brush of justice will eventually push him round the bend

Can't think of another poem that conveys the stillness and beauty of a snowfall better than this. And how often have I quoted the last lines..
