Among other things, I write about college football for
Gator Country. US Navy husband. Known as Year2 elsewhere, but that's from an old blog I started in 2006 and it's been a while.

NEW from me: CO2 emissions in China have now been flat or falling for 18 months, the first time that energy demand growth at or above historical averages doesn't drive emissions up, thanks to the clean energy boom. 🧵👇

Solar’s price drop is astonishing: panels are now 98% cheaper than when I first analyzed them in 2004.

Today, building a fence with solar can be cheaper than using wood.

Easy vegetable side:

1. Cut a vegetable (nearly any works) into bite-sized pieces
2. Toss in olive oil, salt, pepper, and Italian herb mix to taste
3. Roast in the oven at 400 for 20 minutes

I can’t believe we’re back to medieval level conflicts like “local authorities deny catholic prisoners the Eucharist, bishop arrives, Papal sanction may follow”
Chicago Auxiliary Bishop José María Garcia-Maldonado at ICE detention facility: “Being here is an act of holiness…soon we will seek access to the facility to bring the Eucharist to our brothers and sisters; if they say no again, we will keep praying.”

This looks fascinating and is almost at its goal but also time is running out. If the history of computers is interesting to you, consider backing this like I did:

A book telling the extraordinary story of Sphere, a 1970s Utah personal computer maker far ahead of its time—until its sudden collapse.

How can you not be poetic about Wisconsin and Phil Longo winning today
SAM HOUSTON DID IT!

The Sam Houston Bearkats, one of two FBS teams that had yet to win a game this season, defeated Oregon State 21-17 for their first victory of 2025.

First win of the Phil Longo era for the Bearkats. Came back from down 17-0. A long wait has finally ended.

Hawaii kicker Kansei Matsuzawa, “The Tokyo Toe”, is now 22/22 on FGs this season. No FBS kicker ever kicked more than 21 in a season and made them all, Cairo Santos went 21/21 for Tulane in 2012. If Matsuzawa stopped now, he would break the FBS single season record for most makes with no misses.
