Come midnight, the Yule Gnomes will be singing their traditional Yule lullaby in many households. In 1819, a German songwriter heard it and adapted it to his lyric, Silent Night, which is my favorite song. But here’s how the Gnomes sang it. (Translated) Be sure to leave out porridge.
