listen, I didn't stop listening to Nirvana when they started selling the smiley face shirts at Urban Outfitters; I'm not gonna stop using em-dashes just because chatGPT uses them

Incredible OHNY boat tour of the Port of NJ last night led by PANYNJ's Director of Ports, Beth Rooney plus an obligatory stop by some local statue. "48m consumers live within four hours of this port, while four hours from the Port of Long Beach doesn't even get you out of LA's traffic" 😂

Seeing a California towhee side by side with a golden crowned sparrow makes the fact the towhee is a (large) sparrow pretty apparent — or at least more so than with, say, the easter towhee 🪶

As a New Yorker it is always a treat when traveling to warmer places in winter to spot birds that we’d usually only get to see briefly as they pass through on migrations. These bright little warblers are so cheerful 🪶

Osprey watching to see what the ferry churned up as we got into Larkspur right at sunset. Had several grebes and a harbor seal following us as well by the time we reached the dock. 🪶

Some days the mirror is not your friend.

New #animaltooluse report by Jason Love et al. in @wilsonornithsoc.bsky.social. A Northern Cardinal repeatedly picked up gravel, flew to a car mirror and struck the mirror with the stone.

(It's a Ford Escape SUV, not clear if that mattered to the bird) 🧪🪶

FACT CHECK: It is not “a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife.” We spoke with Mr. Richard Hetherington-Jones of Thelfall Manor, Yorkshire, who has £2000 per annum and does not wish to be wed at this time.
FACT CHECK: Hamlet discussed the “slings and arrows of outrageous Fortune” however we have no records of a Dane named Fortune involved in the arms trade.
