As a high risk obstetrician, I know that patients with complicated pregnancies reply on Medicaid. With our already tragically poor maternal and infant outcomes, we cannot afford more cuts. Tell Congress to vote no on HR 1: #ObGynsInAction #MedicaidMatters #HandsOffMedicaid @acog.org

Ohio has obstetric deserts that need services, including fetal ultrasound.
Instead the current budget is wasting $2.5 mil on 3D ultrasound machines that will be used for non-medical purposes by non-professionals for cute pictures that discourage abortion.
This could have been actual medical care

Yesterday the Ohio House unveiled their state budget, documents always hundreds of pages long often with little Easter eggs
Like changes to physician abortion reporting requirements on p. 273 that make it easier to find patients from out of state

My favorite fact reading this book:
The word “Lumpectomy” started as a derisive joke used by traditional surgeons mocking those who removed only “lumps” rather than the more morbid radial mastectomy.
History both proved them wrong & the word later entered medicine’s formal lexicon

#SMFM2025: An RCT of Atosiban tocolysis for preterm labor demonstrated no benefit
Another RCT of another tocolytic without benefit
Authors: “This questions the widespread use of tocolytics in many countries”
In Cleveland we stopped using tocolytics years ago
It’s time to stop
