The Government has deliberately turned its back on the single most effective step it could take to kick-start growth and fill the £90 billion Brexit-shaped hole in the public finances.

We need a new Customs Union with the EU to get our economy growing.

What we're seeing with all this new data is that the Brexit damage is only getting worse as time goes on. Companies aren't "adjusting". They're either leaving, downscaling or going under. From manufacturing to services to culture to farming & fishing, the decline is snowballing rhe longer we're out.
New analysis by the politically neutral House of Commons library says that Brexit:

- cost the average Briton between £2,700 and £3,700

- lost the Treasury up to £90bn a year tax revenue.

Rachel Reeves budget options could have been very different!

Exclusive: Britons also up to £3,700 worse off, leading to calls for the Labour government to improve relations with the EU

If Labour are willing to bin their manifesto pledges on tax rises, why not on Brexit?

That would win them far, far more votes than raising taxes ever will. Indeed, tax rises are likely to crater their weak support even further.

What's so magical about Brexit that it must remain untouchable?

With an ally of Nigel Farage pleading guilty to taking bribes for making pro-Russian statements, it’s clear we need an in-depth investigation into Russian money in our politics.

Today I asked the Prime Minister whether he would back an investigation.

"Immigration cases only take up a small part of the court's work. That's because domestic courts do such a good job in interpreting the law there's little the ECHR can improve on. It has has only heard 29 deportation cases from the UK, and in 16 of them it was found rhe deportations could go ahead."

Since 1980, the ECHR has heard just 29 UK immigrant deportation case, and the UK won 16 of them. Quitting will make no material difference to immigration, just weaken protections for absolutely everybody in this country. But Farage and the Tories know that.

Sometimes I think about how from 1935-1975ish, Bell Labs produced an insane amount of revolutionary science and technology, including 11 Nobel Prizes, the transistor, UNIX, C, the laser, the solar cell, information theory, etc. The secret? Provide scientists with ample, steady, no-strings funding.

Trudeau named not reforming the voting system as his big regret. Starmer shouldn't repeat his mistake.

The stakes are now much higher than just who wins the next election.

When there's such a disconnect between how people vote and who wins seats, trust in democracy is at risk.
