Library-assistant and anxious goblin (Powered by Sertraline and Propranolol).

Pre-successful writer, enjoys a green tea and blueberry muffin.

Food provider, fuss giver, and occasional bed for cats.

Great night at the library listening to a very entertaining talk with @stephmcgovern.bsky.social and @bobfischer.bsky.social. Both lovely people who very kindly put up with my rambling nonsense after the event :D

Picked up a CPAP machine from the respiratory nurse today. Going to show sleep apnea that it ain't the boss of me! Also worried the cats will try and sleep on the device. If you have cats then you know that obviously I didn't need to use the word "try"!

My Bluesky rules:

1 - If you follow me first, then I will follow you.

2 - If I follow you first, I don't expect you to follow me back, people are busy and your own space, I wont tell you how to fill it or with whom :)

“When I was an unhappy little boy, going to the library changed my life. It may even have saved it. Amazing as it sounds, literature can do that for you. Books are your ticket to the whole world.”

From your friendly librarian: please, please don’t make books, reading, or visits to the library a punishment OR a reward. It’s not as effective as you think it is, and it damages the relationship your child can build with us. Literacy is a birthright.

one of the reasons bluesky works differently is because early users waged a successful fight to get the devs to prioritize safety features to protect communities at risk

as a result bluesky now has a suite of controls that i think are unmatched on social media

here’s the list, lmk what i’ve missed

Actual fingers on keys has occurred! Am I saying that the improvement in my mental health since leaving "The Other Place" has had a direct effect on my ability to write?

I mean, I'm not saying that... but...

Work is intensely quiet today.

The Great Pratchett Re-read continues with Sourcery.

Is it Source-ery or Sour-cery?

When I first read it as a small child I always thought it was pronounced the sour way :s

Stage two of the leaving of twitter is to be far more active here than I was there. As such, here is a selfie the boy took.

Welp finally deactivated account and deleted twitter. Took longer than I expected but for my own mental health, now is the time.

Anxiety is always bad this time of year. Mum loved Christmas and I always feel the loss hard at this time. This time of year always feels like the darkest.

One of the worst things about general anxiety disorder is it's unpredictability, it's like coping incontinence! When everything seems like it should all be fine, you have been covered in panic, palpitations, ringing ears, tunnel vision, shortness of breath, and all the other fun little side effects.
