Well, if it was any other game, I'd say "who cares?" but cricket ? Chaps simply don't cheat other chaps at cricket. So, it probably did not happen.

No, not quite. In practice, some people will comply, others will ignore the silly rule and get angry and aggressive with the first group. I'd expect fatalities to go up.

I live in AU. I don't think I have ever heard a judge here described in terms of which political party was in power when he/she was appointed.
