And you're amazing at those things!

For me it's coming up with an answer to something my client didn't have the expertise to answer themselves, or unblocking someone by teaching them a new skill or giving them a new perspective. I guess it boils down to helping humans and solving problems!

I did wonder why I suddenly got an update after so many years. What a great game though, and sometimes the bugs are hilarious.

Hahaha you know it's good when it's a series of "it you" moments!

I 100% recommend @pierrenovellie.bsky.social's book Why Can't I Enjoy Things? - hands down the best first person book on autism I've read. Obviously everyone's experience is different so I also echo others' advice to just talk to other ND folk about their experience and realise you're not alone!

I've recently added custom instructions to ChatGPT to stop it automatically agreeing with everything I say, it's made it a bit more balanced (or at least not explicitly complimentary)

I'm halfway through the first one and I'm already hoping @timclare.bsky.social uses the phrase "haptic heft" again at some point.

I definitely have a head full of random quotes, mostly various British sitcoms. I can even hear the exact delivery in my mind, I'm assuming that's the same for you too 😂

I'll bring a somewhat unrelated anecdote: I met Nick at a soft play and helped him convince his son to go down the big slide. Lovely guy.

SO SATISFYING 🤤

Great idea! That looks like a *very* satisfying chess clock.

No way I'd have been able to use free resources in my own time to learn enough to change careers but that's just my brain. So for me it was worth studying it at university but I absolutely don't think everyone needs to do it this way.
November 6, 2025 at 7:48 AM
I did a Masters in Data Science and it's the only reason I was able to switch careers. Not because of the content (that was very academic as you'd expect, lots of time spent on ML formulae etc.) but because of the community and the forcing function of having paid a lot of money to be there 🤣

Also, one review said "look, everything in the world is getting better and technology like social media hasn't destroyed us so this book wasn't prescient at all" which in the (coming) age of AI I'm not sure will hold up. I hope I'm wrong!
November 5, 2025 at 2:43 PM
Oh it's definitely of its time and I didn't always enjoy the writing style. It was rambling in places, but something about it drew me in. The reviews are interesting actually! I don't usually read reviews because I'm known to forgive a book's MANY flaws if I'm compelled by the central ideas 🤣

@martinapugliese.bsky.social 👆🏻the latest in a long line of dystopia reads - highly recommended if you don't know it already!
November 5, 2025 at 10:55 AM
Ah if it isn't my old friend the "everyone leave me alone but also be here so I don't procrastinate" paradox
November 4, 2025 at 7:08 AM
I don't know about you but I'm still livid about the realisation that exercise really helps.
November 3, 2025 at 5:28 PM
Yes! Shame there aren't more reasons to just randomly go talk to your neighbours, most other days of the year it would seem odd 👻

Fog machines have appeared in our neighbourhood this year too!! That whole family was dressed as vampires. Dedicated to the decor!

I couldn't find it on AntennaPod either but I eventually found the RSS link you should be able to use: anchor.fm/s/10af857f4/...

Hey Tim. I loved Coward and The Game Changers. I hope you can be kind to yourself, which is not an easy thing for a neurodivergent brain I know! I will happily give you some spare good vibes I have lying around. Take care!

Yeah I've seen LLMs blatantly make up data instead of using the attached file, and for a simple group by + count question as well! Easy for me to spot because I can just look at the code, but could easily trip people up if they assume the LLM "did it right".
