I find Phil Rocco's theory that the coalitional nature of the Dem. party has left it unprepared to confront an anti-constitutional one persuasive. I'd be very interested to hear from people across the pond whether the same dynamics hold there.

I'm always amused when people suggest that the situation in the U.S. has become too unstable and corrupt for the World Cup to go forward. It's like, have you have met FIFA?

If they rolled over from year to year, you could perhaps squint really hard and see an argument that they're worth all the b.s. you have to go through to make use of one. But they don't roll over!
