Watching the world go by with an increasing sense of disbelief.
They are going to attempt discipline a space shuttle pilot & commander!

I wonder if they realise?

Saw this in today's Economist. Wasn't aware myself. Perhaps more of an explanation...

They seem to be heading towards using the "next generation" small modular reactors not a classic monolithic large reactor like those built by, say, Westinghouse.

The worst part...

26 July 2025: Trump visits his Turnberry Hotel in Scotland with its "Donald J Trump Ballroom".
31 July 2025: White House announces new ballroom.

Which is which?

Indeed. The "good chaps" of the city were very "sound" in those days.

Our current debt was mainly caused by the '08 financial crisis with a bit of Covid. The global markets may be less forgiving today.

Brexit was certainly bad for UK auto industry but I suspect the rise of state coordinated/funded Chinese auto industry is perhaps a bigger dampener on investment currently.

Maybe its a cultural thing.

Where I am, in the UK, "autocomplete" is what gives rise to comical misunderstandings on one of these.

It is not a generic term for any text-based probabilistic inference system.

This isn't exactly "autocomplete"...

Truly inspirational and so modest: no mention of the viscountcy.

You sure? Isn't this what incipient fascism looks like?
April 18, 2025 at 5:18 PM
Really?

China biggest steel exporter. EU & US biggest steel importers.

China has just restricted rare earths.

I fear that may be a lack of imagination.

I hope we never have to find out...

I once read that bear markets last about a year (and move quickly) and bull markets last about 4 years (and go much slower).

We notice the big periodic drops but not that e.g. the S&P US index is STILL up 82% over the last 5 years.

I got half my money out of US tracker funds a month ago. I now have that very conundrum.

Sadly bonds ain't the answer in times of inflation - which is where we're headed big time.

You haven't experienced a hyper-partisan snowball like Brexit / Trump.

Protest will be "co-ordinated by Soros", "Shills of the Davos cabal", "loser-snowflakes bleating". Its actively used to drive polarization.

US already well on way to full fascism (populism, nationalism, militarism)

Yes, but what type of Ukraine "news"? You seem well entrenched in one viewpoint.

Given the original UK order was for 1,000, you don't think having the capacity to spit out 5,000 would be useful in itself for the UK?
