Chuck Schumer Helps Pull Democrats Back From Brink Of Courage
November 10, 2025 at 5:02 AM
Why are the Democrats so bad at this, @schumer.senate.gov ?
"Is there a more feckless, spineless opposition party anywhere in the democratic world? Why do Democrats insist on repeatedly snatching defeat from the jaws of victory?"

Me for Zeteo's First Draft this morning on the Democratic surrender in the Senate:
🏳️ BREAKING: Democrats Surrender. Again
Mehdi's Monday morning update on the senators voting to reopen the government without a guarantee on heathcare; the BBC rolling over for Donald Trump; and Kathy Hochul's clash with Zohran Mamdani.

this is WILD
EXCLUSIVE: One Saturday afternoon in October, my phone lit up with a notification.

I glanced down at the message.

“Anna, Lindsey Halligan here,” it began.

So began my text exchange with the woman who is prosecuting the president's perceived political enemies.

Thousands of posts from a private Young Republican Telegram chat reveal a culture of casual racism/antisemitism, rape jokes and celebration of Hitler/Nazism.

Some of the ringleaders are below: We live in a world where 4chan types now occupy positions of real power.

1/ So a quick 🧵on where things are at on the shutdown.

You get a lot of propaganda and spin thrown at you, so I want to give you the real, behind-the-scenes tea.

All of the conventional wisdom going into the shutdown has been wrong so far. Dems haven’t caved quickly, the public (perhaps tentatively) still sides with Dems, some Republicans have wavered on healthcare and the filibuster, Dems remain united.

Corporate outlets aren’t resisting fascism. They’re enabling it. All the president’s men aren’t breaking into the Watergate; they’re buying up the media and firing anyone who won’t toe the line.

@schumer.senate.gov Maybe step aside and give the guy with ideas a chance?
Everyone should listen to Chris Murphy's extraordinary warning about Trump on our pod. First, he says the logic must be that the more lawless he gets, the stiffer the resistance.

"If I give in and consent to these kinds of tactics then it just normalizes it all." 1/

I make the case, in my latest for The Guardian, for new leadership:

Hakeem Jeffries: "Donald Trump promised that he would lower housing costs on day one. Here's a suggestion for the Trump administration: try to legislate, and maybe we can find common ground in order to get something done for the American people."

@schumer.senate.gov must retire.

I know Democrats are overwhelmed (or rudderless, if you are less charitable) by the sheer volume of Trump authoritarian moves, but I’d like to see them unified behind specific goals like “RFK Jr is a threat to public health and needs to go.”
August 28, 2025 at 10:41 PM
If only other prominent Democrats (looking at you, @schumer.senate.gov and @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social ) would be so bold and be the leaders the country needs them to be.
Pritzker: This is not about fighting crime. This is about the President and his complicit lackey, Stephen Miller, searching for ways to lay the groundwork to circumvent our democracy, militarize our cities, and end elections.
