This moment’s health care emergency was created a generation ago. Ignoring this history now dooms us to repeat it in the future.
The Health Care Crisis Origin Story
A generation ago, Democrats helped the insurance industry shut down a rare opportunity - leading to this moment of chaos.

It was a little different last week.

Gun violence is out of control. The victims of gun violence are Republicans, Democrats, independents, and kids, who have no political affiliation whatsoever.

We need to tone down the incendiary political rhetoric, for sure, but we also need to do something about guns.

It is now up to us to recommit to this great task, to resign these new segregationalists to the dustbin of history, and create a new constitution that is fully committed to realizing the true potential of the ideals of the Declaration, one that truly embraces “the entire family of man.”

Democrat consultants give away the game…Dems care more about what republican voters think than their own voters. And they wonder why democrats have no faith in the party 🙄
A Democratic messaging firm ("Navigator Research") tied to the establishment has sent out a memo on govt shutdown fight around DC this am.

They want the Democrats/progressives to focus on "bipartisanship" and focus no pissing of Republicans by talking about "stopping Trump." 🙃

Feels like the bigger story is that accurately pricing in the cost of maintaining many rural areas is indistinguishable from trying to depopulate them
When Oregon mapped wildfire risks to properties, some insurance brokers and homeowners blamed the map, without evidence, for policy cancellations and price hikes. Others called it part of a big plan to “depopulate rural areas.”
How the Rapid Spread of Misinformation Pushed Oregon Lawmakers to Kill the State’s Wildfire Risk Map
After Oregon’s record-breaking fire season in 2020, lawmakers wanted to map out which properties were most at risk. But anger from homeowners escalated quickly.

Hypothetically. If embracing Mamdani meant that there would definitely be 2026 elections and the Dems would sweep Congress in a landslide , would you embrace Mamdani ?

Or, Is is that thought so abhorrent, you couldn’t bring yourself to do it. Even at the expense of staying the minority?

i think one issue is that this approach has proven to be a total failure. a partisan who sees the right as morally deficient will have had a better track record at predicting the events of the last few years than someone who is endlessly trying to demonstrate their nuance.
