I’m into football, books (fantasy & sci fi especially), pop/rock music, art, nature/environmentalism, travel… I’m an English/Criminology teacher/teacher-trainer in Carlisle, born near Manchester. Married to Teresa and father of Heather, Liam and Lauren.
So much more depth than the tv series, enjoy! Strands that are utterly edited out of the show.

Dune is a book of wide scope, that’s difficult to put in a single film, but I loved this version. Baffled by the folk who said they couldn’t follow it !

No power in the midfield in second halves. Need a physical presence. Bernardo and Tijani were anonymous after half time.

Ray Bradbury’s short story: The Pedestrian.

A big influence on Ian Banks for The Wasp Factory…

Idea for one of your deep dives: in our decade or so of success, when pass and move/walk it in/cut back cross hasn’t worked, someone scored from range. Yaya, KDB, Rodri, the Vinnie rocket etc. Last two seasons, nobody seems prepared to try that. Foden a bit? Marmoush? Do stats support that?

☹️ And… Ake poor, Savinho anonymous first half, Khusanov disappointing and Bobb no end product. ☹️

Wow, that’s a lot. Ake and Khusanov need much better games than last time… Savinho and Bobb need to take their chances and stop underwhelming.

Dismissed for single figures in 41% of his test innings. 🥴

Better off Dead, Say Anything, The Sure Thing… John Cusack was in some fab 80s films. Then the brilliant Grosse Point Blank in the early 90s and the charming Must Love Dogs in the early 2000s. 😎🤗

Amazing debut. I still get really sad sometimes about Stuart Adamson’s death.

Loads of classics in 1983, with these four among my faves…Been lucky enough to see U2 and Big Country live, plus Peter Buck of REM recently with Luke Haines (Auteurs). 🎸🤗 Hope to see Tears for Fears if a suitable north of England date on their next tour. 🤞🏼

They can’t stop comparing him with Saka, who is marvellous but a right winger who’s played most England games (a few as wing back) in his best position. Phil has never had a real run as a central attacking midfielder for England. Tuchel’s tactics may fit him better than Southgate’s; more creators?

Agreed! There’s “correct” and “correct but archaic.”
I’m an English teacher and have a Maths colleague who loves to take the piss when I shout “Who’s marking who?!” at staff football.
He always shouts: “It’s whom!” 😆

Much more end product than Savinho…

Hmmm, trying to preserve Ruben, Bernardo and Cherki for Liverpool? 🤔

I have that. It’s in my tbr queue…

Just bought Joe’s Heart Shaped Box. I don’t read a lot of horror (loved The Dark Tower series), but a few that have impressed me are Robert Holdstock’s Necromancer and Richard Farren-Barber’s Perfect Darkness, Perfect Silence.
