I have written to my new local (labour) MP three times and apart from an acknowledgement have not had a single reply. In the past I have been able to engage with my MP but I find the new guy's attitude insulting.

We have a well organised further education system, largely funded by the state. It is suffers from not being able to get on and do the job. Apprenticeships are not given the kudos they deserve as A-levels are the "gold standard". FE can deliver a high standard product if it is funded and left alone.
